Anderson Manufacturing started as a machine shop founded in 1955 by William Anderson. That year he retired from GE after serving as manager of the tool department. He was joined by his son Vernon, also a tool-and-die maker. They grew steadily while building parts for multiple industries. In 1980 Vernon's sons, Carl and Charles Anderson, joined the business. In 2009, the company started building parts for the firearms industry. They found success and pivoted completely into making parts for the AR platform, and are now the largest manufacturer of AR lower receivers in the USA. Anderson entered the concealed carry market in 2022.
