CZ Custom was founded in 1998 by Angus Hobdell, a competitive shooter and avid gunsmith. The company is a completely separate entity from CZ, but the two have a close working relationship. CZ Custom started by modifying CZ pistols for competition shooting. Over the years Angus built out design and manufacturing capability, he has served on CZ's professional shooting team, and he has worked directly on product development for CZ-USA. CZ Custom began offering pistols with their own frame designs in 2017, all based on compatiblity with the CZ platform. CZ Custom also manfufactures some of the components and some of the full pistols for CZ-USA.
