Ed Brown was founded in 1968 as a part-time gunsmith business by tool-and-die-maker Ed Brown. He quit his day job in 1988 and focused solely on gunsmithing and manufacture of parts. Over this time he evolved as a competitive shooter and acheived top-tier world rankings. In 1992 he pivoted focus to manufacture of 1911 style pistols. Ed Brown retired in 2010 and the business continues to grow under ownership of his family.
