Zastava Arms was founded in 1853 as a cannon manufacturer and over the years diversified into pistols, rifles, machine guns, and anti-aircraft cannons. The factory was heavily damaged during WWII and quickly rebuilt. Again in 1999 the factory was damaged by NATO bombing. The Serbian government has invested in factory modernization and the company serves the national defense industry and global export markets.
